Although I’m still behind where I should be in order to climb 100 vertical miles this year, I’m now 30% of the way there. And I’ve made pretty good progress in recent weeks, knocking out 10 vertical miles in just over a month.
As reported in my 10 Vertical Miles post, my average daily ascent going into our four-week vacation (Jan 17 – Feb 13) was 1,294 feet per day but at the end of vacation it was down to just 730 feet per day. I should probably, finally, have it back above that 1,294 level sometime next week. 100 vertical miles is about 1,447 feet per day so less than two hundred more to catch up to where I should be and then I have to hold it there for the rest of the year.
